Office Backup
LiveVault InControl is an enterprise solution
designed to be easy and cost-effective to
implement and manage. A lightweight software
agent resides on each of the remote servers to
be backed up. This agent collects and sends
changed data to the LiveVault Data Storage Vault
at your corporate datacenter. Using your
existing private network or Internet
connections, all four aspects of data protection
– data backup, offsite storage, archiving, and
data recovery – are addressed automatically
without any intervention by remote staff.
Network Delivered Backup
LiveVault InControl simply and efficiently uses
either private or Internet remote office
connections to move data safely to the corporate
datacenter. LiveVault InControl transmits only
the data that has changed, substantially
minimizing bandwidth, and allowing efficient
capture and retention of data history. By
capturing changes as they occur and sending them
over the network on a continuous or scheduled
basis, LiveVault InControl optimizes bandwidth
efficiency, eliminating the overhead of
traditional batch processes that send all data
during one “window”.
Secure Centralized Data Storage Vault
With LiveVault InControl, remote office data is
safely stored to one (or more) LiveVault Data
Storage Vaults that reside in the corporate
datacenter. These vaults are standard servers
configured with LiveVault software and
sufficient disk to support your environment.
LiveVault Data Storage Vaults are optimized to
take advantage of low cost ATA drives for
extremely cost effective disk based backup and
recovery. Within each vault, LiveVault optimizes
data storage by leveraging advanced technologies
including delta processing, version coalescence
and compression to efficiently store many backup
versions in minimal disk space.
LiveVault also supports a wide variety of
redundant configurations to meet your corporate
data protection standards. Locally redundant
vaults protect against hardware failure while
remote disaster recovery vaults store remote
office data in the datacenter as well as in a
remote hot-site. Alternatively, the LiveVault
Data Storage Vault can simply fit into your
traditional datacenter’s backup process.
Web-Based Management
Management of the entire remote office backup
network is controlled through the LiveVault Web
Management Portal, giving you complete freedom

LiveVault InControl makes restores easy and
intuitive, with data recovered rapidly and
accurately from any location. To restore data,
simply log onto the LiveVault Web Management
Portal, select the server you want to restore
data from and the data you want to restore. With
LiveVault InControl, you can initiate a restore
from a Web browser in seconds, and recover the
current version or a historical version in
minutes.
For even faster recovery times, LiveVault
TurboRestore, an onsite disk backup appliance,
can be installed at each remote location,
offering rapid local recovery without involving
remote office staff. Another time-saver is
DeltaRestore, a unique LiveVault feature to
quickly restore a historic copy of a very large
database or folder to a specific point in time.
DeltaRestore means lightning fast recoveries
after corruption events because the system moves
only the bytes in a file that are different.
And, if LiveVault TurboRestore is installed,
most data will be retrieved directly from the
appliance for even faster, LAN-speed restores.
